AC Power Sources

Chroma designs and manufactures five families of leading edge programmable AC power sources, precision power supplies, frequency converters and related instrumentation for simulating ac mains and line fault simulations conditions. The AC Supplies are used in automatic testing equipment and bench top applications including avionics testing, IEC testing, Mil-std-704 Avionics ,DO-160 Shipboard testing and power supply test applications.

61500 series Programmable AC Power Source (500VA ~ 18KVA)

Chroma's 61500 series of AC sources defines a new standard of high performance ac power sources. Features included are power line disturbance simulation, programmable output impedance, comprehensive measurement functions and waveshape synthesis. Ideal for avionics and pre-compliance testing.

61600 series Programmable AC Power Source (500VA ~ 18kVA)

  • Provides 0-300VAC or 0-424VDC output from a single source· Ultra-pure/low distortion output for designed for commercial aapplications
  • Smaller, lighter and expanding setting and readback functions.
  • Provides 6:1 peak current capability and includes power amplifier mode
Chroma's 61600 family uses modern PWM technology to provide a pure programmable AC signal with distortion less then 0.5%. Instrument provides both AC or DC or AC+DC modes to allow testing of the most complex devices. In addition to advanced readback functions the instrument include a power amplifier mode allowing of power replication of almost any wave shape.

61700 series Programmable 3-Phase AC Power Source

  • Three phase programmable AC Sources, 500VA/ph to 4KVA/ph
  • Provides 0-300VAC or 0-424VDC output from a single source
  • Optional DSP provides for voltage transient simulations for compliance testing to many IEC & Military standards
Chroma's 61700 series are three phase AC sources targeted at power applications from 500VA per phase to 4KVA per phase. The instruments are programmable to 15 to 1200Hz and include the same low distortion/ high signal qualify as the 61500 and 61600 series. Optional transient generator allows for a wide variety of line disturbances including MIL-STD-704E (airborne) and DO-160 (shipboard).

6400 series Programmable AC Power Source (375VA ~ 9KVA)

  • Lowest cost programmable AC source
  • Designed for bench or ATE applications require line and frequency variations
  • 0-300VAC/45-1KHz/up to 9KVA single and three phase
Chroma's 6400 family of AC sources are designed for benchtop and automated system applications requiring variations in line voltages and frequencies are a low cost. The 6400 series includes two voltage ranges (0-150VAC & 0-300VAC) as well as precision readbacks for RMS voltage, RMS current, true power, frequency, and peak current crest factor.

Chroma's 6500 family of AC sources are designed for benchtop and automated system applications requiring a high level of line disturbance simulations. The instrument includes a predefined library of drop-out, spikes, stair-step and non-linear waveshapes. The instrument also includes expanded readback circuitry for peak inrush, power factor, VAR, etc.

DC Power Sources

Programmable DC Power Supply The 62000B programmable DC power supplies offer many unique advantages for ATE integration and testing. These advantages include constant power operating envelope, precision readback of output current and voltage, output trigger signals as well as the ability to create complex DC transient waveforms. Designed for automated testing DC-DC converters and similar products.

Hot Swappable Modular DC Supply The 62000P Modular DC power supplies offer many unique features for Burn-in and plating applications. The features include a N+! hot -swappable maintenance, remote ON/OFF and programmable control via Ethernet or CAN bus (Optional).

DC Electronic Loads

Chroma is an industry leading supplier of Electronic Loads for use in fields including automatic test systems, power supply testing , battery testing, fuel cell testing. Chroma’s loads come standard with RS232 control and can be configured for GPIB (IEEE-488) control as well.

Chroma offers four families of electronic DC loads. The Model 6310 series is a modular load series which can be populated with up to eight independent and isolated loads up to 1200W/240A/500VDC. The 63200 family are high power loads design for telecom power supplies and other high power DC products from 2KW to 50KW. Chroma’s 6345 and 63472 families are high di/dt loads design for Voltage Regulator Modular (VRM) applications, Powerpods and other point-of-load applications.

Chroma's 6310 loads are economical modular loads designed for power supply testing applications. Up to eight independent channels maybe configured into a single mainframe. Chroma's 63200 series loads are design for telecom, fuel cell and other applications requiring high power or high current DC loading. Instruments use FET technology and are air cooled for simple operation and maintenance. Load are parallelable allowing for loading systems of up to 30KW. Instruments come standard with front panel controls & RS232 or optional GPIB

6330 series High Speed DC Electronic Load

Chroma's 6330 loads are enhanced versions of the 6310 series. These loads are packaged and rated identically to the 6310 series except they have been enhanced for automated testing. Enhancements include synchronized paralleling allowing from transient response testing using parallel load groups and high speed data transfer circuits allowing for global queries of voltage and current.Up to eight independent channels maybe configured into a single mainframe. Instruments come standard with front panel controls & RS232 or optional GPIB. Loads modules are available from a wide range covering 0.1VDC to 500VDC, up to 240A and 1200W.

The 63472 load series is designed to simulate current Intel processor technology allowing for descrete testing of VR's and motherboards at load di/dt rates of up to 1000A/uS. Chroma’s new series 66200 Digital Power Meter is designed for single-phase measurements of AC power signals and related parameters common to most electronic products. Instead of traditional analog measurement circuits the 66200 uses state-of-the-art DSP digitizing technology. The internal 16 bits analog/digital converters with sampling rates of up to 200KHz provide both high speed and high accuracy measurements which is unprecedented within the industry for this class of power meters current on the market.

The instruments include a four part display with 7-segment LED front panel readouts. Users can easily select desired parameters and readouts at a touch of a button. Instruments also include optional remote control using USB or GPIB interfaces via rear panel connections. The 66200 is packaged in a 2U high, half rack enclosure suitable for bench top or system integration.

The Model 66201 includes simple measurement functions designed for low power applications (maximum current 2A). Examples of these devices are AC adapters, battery chargers, LCD monitors, and similar devices. Included measurement data is:

Voltage: Vrms, Vpeak+, Vpeak-
Current: Irms, Ipeak+, Ipeak-
Power: Watts, Power Factor, Apparent Power VA, Reactive Power VAR Current Crest Factor Frequency.

The Model 66202 includes a 2-shunt design to provide highly accurate readings for both low and high current measurements. In addition to the parameters measured by Model 66201, the 66202 includes Inrush current, Total Harmonic Distortion of V/I, and Energy measurements. With these practical functions, The Model 66202 is suitable for the most demanding of R&D and quality control departments.

PXI Power Supply

Chroma Systems Solutions produces the industries first 3U PXI programmable DC power supply. Provides two DC channels each rated at 0-30VDC/2A/30W. Instruments include high accuracy readback of voltage and current as well as programmable current limit and output isolation relays. The Model 52911 is a dual output, 0-30VDC/2A per channel card, packaged in a single PXI card slot. The instrument includes readback for voltage and current and is available with an optional Labview/Labwindows Softpanel

Soft Panels

Chroma's VI Softpanels allow instruments to be easily controlled using point-and-click software screens. Panels are Labview.exe files which communicate with instruments via available RS232 or GPIB interfaces. Softpanels are sold separately and operate with in most modern operating systems and computers. Panels allow for setting and read back from instruments as well as specialized functions including IEC and MIL-STD-704 testing. They are easily setup and initiated from graphical panels.
